MAN ARRESTED IN OGUN FOR KEEPING DECAYING CORPSE IN HIS APARTMENT

A man is now being investigated at the Ogun State Police Command, Southwest Nigeria, following his arrested recently for keeping a decaying corpse in his apartment.

According to reports, residents of Peace Land Estate in Akute, Ogun State, where the suspect, (known as a pastor in the neighbourhood) resides were thrown into a state of confusion when the skeleton of what looks like the body of a young woman was discovered in an apartment.

Eyewitnesses said the shocking discovery was made when the owner of the property attempted to forcefully evict the tenant, a “pastor”, from the apartment over unpaid rents.

Narrating the ordeal, an eyewitness was quoted as saying, “The pastor did not pay his rent for a year. The landlady, who was angry with the situation of things, decided to storm the apartment in company of some people in order to evict him, but was shocked when they discovered a human skeleton in the apartment.”

Other residents in the neighbourhood were attracted to the scene while the matter was quickly reported to the police.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who is said to run a local church in the vicinity, was alleged to have made some revelations about the skeleton, and was quoted as saying it was that of one of his sister.

According to him, his parents had just three children – himself and two sisters, who both lived with him in the apartment.

He was alleged to have confessed further that one of the sisters named Funmi, had not been seen for a while. And whenever he was asked about her whereabouts, his response as always, “She has gone to the mountain to pray,” a source disclosed.

Further confession revealed that the deceased actually died since 2010 and her body was abandoned in the apartment afterward.

Eyewitnesses say from the position of the skeleton, it appeared that the deceased was kneeling at the time she died.

What is however curious is how the corpse could have remained in the apartment for that long period of time without the stench disturbing the neighbourhood.

At the time of filing this report, investigations are underway to unravel the mystery behind the presence of the skeleton in the Akute apartment.
