LAGOS GOVT FIXES PRICES OF NEW VEHICLE NUMBER PLATES FROM N37,825 TO N210,175

The Lagos State Government said it has come to its notice that after the recent upward review of prices of number plates and drivers’ licence fees by the Joint Tax Board, false and exorbitant number plates prices have gone viral on social media, causing confusion and misinterpretation.

In statement released on its official Facebook page, it hinted that for the avoidance of doubts, it decided to release the official list of the approved prices, and advised Lagosians to go to the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency's stations to confirm the real prices before any transaction.

In its bid to create awareness, the state government on Tuesday, August 17, released the new "authentic" prices of number plates to be paid by motorists.

It will be recalled that the Federal Government earlier announced the hikes on prices of vehicle number plates, and drivers licence rates, which implementation had since commenced across the country.

The Joint Tax Board (JTB) took the decision at its 147th meeting which was held in Kaduna on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Subsequently, the JTB directed various federal and state agencies to commence the implementation of the rates.

According to the letter, the chairman of the JTB approved August 1 as the commencement date for the implementation of the new rates.

5. Fancy Number Plates - N210,175

6. Fancy Plates Conversion- N202,050

7. Fancy Plates Motorcycle - N54,000

8. Out of Series Plates - N60,175

9. Out of Series Conversion-N52,050

10. Loss Plates/Defaced - N21,250

11. Articulated Plates - N57,675

12. Standard Conversion - N19,300

13. Articulated Conversion - N41,500

14. Drivers Licence Fresh/Renewal 3 Years - N10,350

15. Drivers Licence Fresh/Renewal 5 Years - N15,450
