MULTIPLE ROAD ACCIDENTS CLAIM LIVES IN EDO

The
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo has said as many as three people lost
their lives in four recent traffic accidents in the state.
Henry
Benamaisia, the Corps State Sector Commander, revealed this Wednesday in an
interview with the newsmen in Benin City, the state capital.
Benamaisia
said
the deaths were recorded during the celebration of Eid-El-Kabir in the state.
According
to him, the Corps embarked on its special Sallah patrol activities from July 16
to 25.
“The
special patrol was aimed at a celebration of Sallah without accidents and
without traffic problems. The regular marshals, in collaboration with the
special marshals of the state command, carried out traffic control in different
parts of the state,” he said.

He
added that public enlightenments were also carried out in religious circles,
car parks and media houses across the state.
“During
this period under review, it was observed that four accidents occurred across
the state, with three fatalities recorded. Of the four accidents, two were
fatal, one serious and the other a minor accident,” he explained.
He
further revealed that 24 people, including 19 adult men and five adult women,
were involved in the crashes; adding that 14 people, including 11 adult men and
three adult women, were injured in the crashes, while seven people, including
five adult men and two adult women, were rescued without injury.
“Likewise,
to ensure a high level of respect for road traffic rules by motorists, patrol
control activities have been carried out adequately. A total number of 683
traffic offenders have been apprehended with 816 traffic offenses,” Benamaisia
further said.
He
therefore advised motorists to be disciplined, tolerant and obey the rules of
the road at all times.
