TANKER LADEN WITH KEROSENE CRASHES ON LAGOS -IBADAN EXPRESSWAY
A truck laden with kerosene has reportedly crashed along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident which occurred Friday happened around Christopher University, Mowe, Ogun State.
A
statement signed by Florence Okpe the Route Commander Public Education
Officer Federal Road Safety Corps Ogun State Command stated that the crash
involved a total of seven persons, all male adults, with one sustaining
injuries. No death was recorded from the crash.
The
crash involved two vehicles, a white coloured Mack truck with registration
number AGL 755 XY. The second vehicle is an ash coloured Toyota
Camry with registration number AGL 472 FH.
The probable
cause of the crash is said to be excessive speeding which led to loss of
control and the truck skipped and became engulfed in fire.
The
Fire Service personnel were immediately invited to put off the fire. The
crash scene has been cleared and traffic restored on the Expressway.
The
injured victim was rescued and taken to a nearby Hospital. The
FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander Clement Oladele, has advised drivers,
including those driving articulated vehicles to drive cautiously and
within the recommended speed limit to avoid unnecessary road traffic crashes.
He also
advised tankers conveying petroleum products to adhere strictly to prescribed
standards of installing safety seals in the tankers conveying petroleum
products, with the tanker installed with a safety seal, even when it
flipped after the driver lost control, the contents would not have spilled thus
averting fire outbreak.
